Take a payment or top up
Open /store/gift-cards (Store Operations, Gift cards). It works on a till PC, a phone, the Stokk app and a handheld scanner.
Find the card
- Scan the QR code on the customer's phone or printed card with your handheld scanner. Scanning works without clicking anywhere first.
- Or tap Scan a gift card to use the camera.
- Or type the 16-character card number shown under the code. Dashes and lower case don't matter, and a mistyped character is caught before anything is looked up.
The card opens with its balance, whether it is in a phone wallet, and its recent payments.
Take a payment
- Tap Take payment and type the amount, or tap Whole balance.
- If the purchase costs more than the card holds, Stokk says how much the card covers and how much to take another way. Tap Use … from the card and collect the rest by card or cash.
- Tap Charge. You see the new balance, and a line telling you when the customer's phone has picked it up.
Top up
Take the payment at the till, then tap Top up, enter the amount, tick Paid at the till and tap Add. A top-up also extends how long the card is valid.
Made a mistake?
Tap Undo on the confirmation, or next to the payment in the card's recent list. You can undo your own payments and top-ups for 15 minutes; after that a manager can do it from /gift-cards.
When a card can't be used
- On hold: a manager has paused it, for example after it was reported lost.
- Expired: past its valid-until date. A manager can extend it.
- Cancelled: it can't be used again.
Remember to record the payment in your POS as a gift card payment too; see how gift cards work.
